The Bean Trees includes many influential quotes that give meaning and understanding to an in depth analysis to what the story means. Out of the quotes the story gives I picked “ The way I see it a person isn’t nothing more than a scarecrow. The only difference between one that stands up and one that blows over is what kind of a stick they’re stuck up on.”
I think if the book were to get destroyed and this was what was left of it, we would get an understanding of what went on in the narrator’s mind. This quote represents the book in a way that you wouldn’t understand unless you looked very deeply inside yourself. It is a quote that means something if you understand.
The quote means that people can be stuck up and they can also be good. I personally love this quote because it is a lot like society today, you have good and bad people. It has a lot to do with the book because of the situations that go on in the book have the same perspective.
In conclusion I think this is the perfect quote or the book because it shows depth and meaning of comparing people to scarecrow’s.
